Mission: Alternative Fuel Effects on Contrails and Cruise Emissions (ACCESS)
Kathy Tacina of NASA’s Glenn Research Center collected particle samples on gold plated grids for post-mission analysis of their shape, size, and composition by electron microscopic techniques during synthetic fuels emission and engine performance tests. The tests were conducted on one of the four engines on NASA’s DC-8 flying laboratory at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility in Palmdale, CA in early 2009.January 27, 2009
