NASA members represented the United States delegation at the Extraordinary Administrative Radio Conference (EARC) to Allocate Frequency Bands for Space Radiocommunication Purposes in Geneva, Switzerland. As a follow up to the 1959 World Administrative Radio Conference, the EARC was entirely dedicated to space communications matters. This was the first time that specific frequency allocations were assigned for space services.
