Title: PRANDTL-D Student Design
Designer: NASA Aero Academy, NASA Dryden
Year it was designed: 2012
Explanation or story behind the logo: In 1932, Ludwig Prandtl proposed an alternative spanload for the minimum induced drag of wings. A small-scale experiment was proposed and worked on by the students named around the edge of the logo. The PRANDTL-D (Primary Research AeroDynamic Design To Lower Drag) wing was the small aircraft design to prove Prandtl’s 1932 idea.
