
March 31, 2006 -A plaque near the door of Firing Room 1 commemorates the dedication of the room as the Young · Crippen Firing Room. The renaming was made in tribute to the 25th anniversary of the first space shuttle flight on April 12, 1981, dedicating the firing room to Commander John Young and Pilot Robert Crippen, the crew.
