The newest addition to the space shuttle fleet, Endeavour, arrives at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, atop the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. Endeavour was demated from the Boeing aircraft and towed to the Vehicle Assembly Building for installation of several major flight components. The next step was a lengthy stay in the orbiter processing facility for a rigorous series of first flow tests. Endeavour lifted off on its maiden space flight, STS-49, in 1992.
