Twenty-five years ago today, April 29, on mission STS-31, the Space Shuttle Discovery landed at Edwards Air Force Base, California, after deploying the Hubble Space Telescope. The NASA Armstrong (formerly Dryden) Flight Research Center serviced and prepared the shuttle for its ferry flight back to Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The STS-31 crew consisted of Commander Loren J. Shriver and pilot Charles Bolden, currently NASA Administrator, and mission specialists: Steven A. Hawley, Bruce McCandless II and Kathryn D. Sullivan.
