The SOFIA observatory 747 drew lots of visitors following the dedication ceremonies at the Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility in Palmdale, Calif. The SOFIA will be based at the facility throughout its 20-year lifetime of flying worldwide astronomical observation missions.
