An Air Force C-17 operated by the Mississippi Air National Guard lifted off Runway 22L at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The aircraft carried the Orion flight test crew module from NASA’s Dryden Flight Research Center to the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The Orion module was used for the first Orion Launch Abort System pad abort flight test at White Sands in 2010.August 19, 2009
