A recent paper documenting the scientific feasibility for spaceborne, three-dimensional (3-D) mapping of lightning with a constellation of low-Earth orbiting lightning detectors was recently accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing journal. The paper was led by Jackson Remington, who is a NASA Postdoctoral Program Fellow in the Earth Science Branch, with contributions from Patrick Gatlin and Timothy Lang (ST11) and collaborators at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Publication of this paper is an important milestone towards development of the CubeSpark mission.
