NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket features various design configurations to enable the agency’s next-generation Moon missions. While the SLS rocket’s Block 1B crew configuration has the same core stage and five-segment solid rocket boosters as the Block I vehicle, the rocket’s upper stage will evolve to be more powerful. The Block 1B crew configuration features a more powerful exploration upper stage with larger fuel tanks and four RL10 engines to send Orion, astronauts and large cargos to the Moon.
