I am Artemis: Busayo I. Ojumu

Working as a process engineer for Primus Aerospace In Lakewood, Colorado, Busayo I. Ojumu helps build Orion Spacecraft parts for Artemis missions. Born to a family of high achievers, Ojumu always had lofty career aspirations. It wasn’t long until he decided to pursue a degree in engineering.

“My father received his masters of science in mechanical engineering from George Washington University the year I was born. My maternal grandfather was a principal, and my immediate and extended family all celebrate education.” Ojumu said. “I always knew I wanted to be an engineer, and I steered my career towards work that involved product design and manufacturing.”

Ojumu earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Stanford University and his master’s degrees in business administration and engineering from the University of New Mexico. At Primus, Ojumu uses drawings and processing instructions to produce Orion parts. The parts are machined on the production floor, piece by piece, to bring the spacecraft closer to life.

“I enjoy designing, but achieving the transformation of the virtual object to a concrete object is always the goal,” he said. “The parts, pieces, and assemblies that I help produce will travel to deep space. Now, I can say that I was part of NASA’s return to the Moon.”

Primus Aerospace is a supplier to Lockheed Martin, the lead contractor for Orion.
