NASA Glenn Celebrates National Lab Day With Teachers And Students
CLEVELAND - NASA's Glenn Research Center will celebrate National Lab Day with 300 hundred middle and high school students and their teachers on Friday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in Glenn's hangar.

During National Lab Day, NASA professionals will engage students in its mission through multiple hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, and connect teachers with hands-on learning activities.

NASA Glenn Associate Director Janet Watkins will kick off the day's events, followed by a panel discussion with Aerospace Engineer Lance Foster and Research Material Engineer Diana Santiago. Immediately following the discussion are tours of Glenn's world-class facilities, STEM activities and demonstrations that focus on the engineering design process, a Recycling and Sustainability presentation and a career showcase.

Also available will be the popular "Picture Yourself in Space"photo booth, where students will receive a free souvenir photo taken as an astronaut.

Schools participating in National Lab Day include: Douglas MacArthur Elementary School, McKinley Elementary School, Buckeye-Woodland Elementary School, Orchard School of Science, Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School, Bolton Elementary School, Bethany Lutheran School, Cuyahoga Heights High School, Whitney Young High School and NASA's Wayne State Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy, or SEMAA, 8-12-grade students.
