Can I do my SkillBridge remotely?
Yes, if the NASA sponsor has identified a position as eligible to be performed remotely.
What are the eligibility requirements for the NASA SkillBridge Fellowship?
You must be a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who is within 180 days of
separation from active duty to begin your internship.
You must complete the DoD mandated Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS or TAPS).
How early can I submit an application?
You can submit an application one year out from your separation date.
How do I apply for the NASA SkillBridge Fellowship?
You must first contact your military career counselor to get started and notify
your command. After, you may visit the NASA SkillBridge Application page to submit your information and apply.
Is there relocation assistance?
No. SkillBridge is not a military-ordered change of station.
Is this a paid fellowship?
This is a DoD-sponsored transition program for active-duty members. Your pay and benefits will remain from the military.
Can I take leave during the fellowship?
NASA fellowships are for a specific duration of time and leave should be planned outside of that date range. If leave becomes necessary, the impact to fellowship participation will be reviewed.
What is the minimum number of days to participate in a NASA SkillBridge fellowship?
A minimum of 90 days and a maximum of 180 days.
What are the chances of being accepted into the NASA SkillBridge Fellowship?
The acceptance rate for the NASA SkillBridge fellowship is based on availability within your field of interest. Our team will work to match you with positions as closely aligned with your field as possible.
How long will it take to get a response?
Response times will vary based on availability within your field and whether a sponsor can identify your application. Please note that there are a limited number of fellowship opportunities at NASA, so you should consider all available options. The only communications you will receive regarding your status are for application receipt and eligibility expiration.
Is employment guaranteed after graduating the SkillBridge fellowship with NASA?
NASA’s SkillBridge fellowships do not convert to job offers upon completion. As a federal organization, employment cannot be guaranteed at the end of the fellowship. All NASA civil servant positions must be applied for through USAJOBS.
NASA works with hundreds of contracting companies that are affiliated with the organization. Throughout the internship, careers can be identified by working with one of the NASA partners.
Team members will make every effort to provide a solid mentorship experience and numerous networking opportunities to help set every service member up for success.
Do I need to have a degree to join the NASA SkillBridge Fellowship?
Having a degree is not necessary for the fellowship. As long as the program eligibility requirements are met, providing a resume showcasing a dynamic background, good character, and a hard work ethic will meet basic requirements.
