In September 2022, Dr. Marcus Johnson from NASA Ames Research Center was awarded the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) John J. Green Award in Stockholm, Sweden.  Dr. Johnson and co-recipient Dr. Adriana Andreeva-Mori (from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency or JAXA) were jointly recognized for their efforts on a NASA and JAXA disaster response collaboration. The primary aim of their collaboration, which began in 2016, was to demonstrate the performance of Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) in disaster relief operations and support post-disaster operations in a more efficient manner through the use of unmanned aircraft systems. The ICAS Award honors young professionals who have an exceptional record in fostering international cooperation between scientists.  Dr. Johnson is the first recipient from the United States and NASA to win this distinguished award since its inception in 2001.
