The High-Altitude Student Platform (HASP) is rolled out to the flightline at NASA’s scientific balloon launch site at Fort Sumner, New Mexico, Sept. 4. HASP, a collaboration with the Louisiana Space Consortium, launched from Fort Sumner at 10:04 a.m. EDT, Sept. 4, and flew for more than 11 hours at a float altitude of 108,000 feet, carrying 12 student payloads. This HASP mission was the 12th since 2005; more than 1,000 students have participated in the HASP program to date. HASP was the first of eight planned flights during this year’s 2017 Fall Fort Sumner Scientific Balloon campaign. (NASA/Bill Rodman)
