ISS036-E-033627 (18 Aug. 2013) — One of the Expedition 36 crew members aboard the International Space Station took this picture of clouds in the Southern Hemisphere on Aug. 18, 2013. At the horizon is a small appearance of the southern lights or Aurora Australis. The orbital outpost was approximately 225 miles above a point on Earth located at 30.9 degrees south latitude and 131 degrees east longitude when the photo was recorded.
