Teams of students will form a company to research the deep space hazards of isolation and confinement using various NASA resources. Teams will select mitigation techniques, design a solution plan and an optional prototype, a company name, a mission patch and a proposal to “sell” their company’s idea to a simulated NASA panel.

Students will:

  • Research the hazards of isolation.
  • Explore various NASA analog facilities, and identify their research objectives.
  • Present a proposal that includes a company name, mission patch and mitigation solution plan.
  • Describe the ways NASA attempts to mitigate the negative effects of isolation and confinement on astronauts.
