August 19 | NASA’s “Quesst” to Pioneer the Future of Supersonic Flight

Join NASA experts on Wednesday, August 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Headquarters on National Aviation Day to discover how NASA’s Quesst mission could help transform the future of supersonic air travel! During this presentation and Q&A with NASA aeronautics expert, Dave Berger, explore the experimental X-59 aircraft, learn why sonic booms happen, and discover what it takes to design an aircraft that can make a much quieter sound.

NASA’s X-59 quiet supersonic research aircraft completed its first supersonic flight Friday, June 5, 2026, marking the first time the aircraft exceeded the speed of sound in support of NASA’s Quesst mission. The milestone represents a major step in flight testing as the aircraft expands into the supersonic portion of its flight envelope.
