Large, Altitude Engine Test Facility

The A-3 Test Stand was originally designed to test fire the J2-X engine at a simulated altitude of 100,000 feet. It features a test cell that is 66.3 feet (height) x 40 feet (diameter).   The primary structure is an open-steel frame rising to a height of over 150 feet and is designed for thrust levels of up to 1 million pounds of force.
