The NASA Research Park (NRP) boasts proven business practices, drawing attention from oversight bodies like the IG, GAO, and a Congressional Subcommittee. Its collaborative model has sparked interest globally.

Established in 2003, Ames was chosen as a demonstration site for the Enhanced Use Leasing Authority (EUL), later extended to all NASA Centers due to NRP’s success. The NRP’s development plan won the federal government-wide GSA award for Best Innovative Policy in 2003.

NRP secured extensive entitlements for construction through collaboration with local, regional, state, and federal officials. Notable partnerships include leases to technology start-ups, universities, and large entities like Google and the University of California.

Prospective partners undergo rigorous vetting for mission compatibility and program support capacity. NRP aligns with White House directives on technology transfer and has nurtured several startups into major Silicon Valley players.

Leading universities and non-profits operate onsite, along with NASA initiatives like SSERVI and the NASA Earth Exchange. Partners lease space under the EUL authority, with provisions for insurance and access.

NRP operates within the secure confines of the NASA Ames Research Center, with dedicated support staff managing partner interactions and regular meetings ensuring effective coordination.

In summary, NRP serves as a beacon of innovation, leveraging NASA resources for research, technology advancement, and workforce development on a world-class campus.
