Suzanne McCollum

Element Manager, Research Operations and Integration

Suzanne McCollum began her career at NASA as a cooperative education student in engineering, developing flight hardware prototypes. Through that work, she became interested in human research payloads.

Since joining NASA full time, McCollum has served in various roles supporting the broad effort to better understand how humans adapt to spaceflight. Highlights include work as the project manager for human research payloads on the Spaceflight Transportation System (STS)-90 Neurolab mission, which was a dedicated effort to research the responses of the brain and central nervous system to spaceflight. She also was an experiment system manager for STS-95 and STS-107.

McCollum has supported human research aboard the International Space Station since Expedition 3 in multiple roles before becoming the Research Operations and Integration element manager. She received her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
