Stacy Houston
Executive Officer for the Mission Support Directorate (MSD)
Stacy Houston serves as the Executive Officer for the Mission Support Directorate (MSD), where she provides invaluable advice and counsel to MSD leadership on operational and administrative matters. Her role maintains a high-level perspective of the objectives, policies, issues, and program developments of MSD, particularly those of special interest to the MSD Associate Administrator and Deputy Associate Administrator.
Prior to her tenure with MSD, Houston held pivotal roles including Manager for strategic planning and risk management, and Contracting Officer’s Representative at Johnson Space Center’s Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate (SMA). Her direct collaboration with the Deputy Director to shape Johnson Space Center’s SMA strategic plan underscores her strategic acumen. As the risk manager, Houston oversaw the comprehensive assessment, tracking, and mitigation of risks, which showcases her dedication to operational excellence.
Houston’s journey with NASA began as an intern in the NASA Contracting Intern Program at NASA Headquarters which included a short stint at Stennis Space Center, where she immersed herself in NASA’s ethos and procurement intricacies. Following her transition to Johnson, Houston spent a decade in procurement, supporting diverse customers such as the Space Shuttle Program, Johnson Space Center Engineering, the Flight Operations Directorate, Office of the Chief Information Officer, and SMA.
Houston earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Tuskegee University and a Master’s degree in public administration from Texas Southern University.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Houston is a passionate advocate for inclusive cultures and innovative practices. Her instrumental role in establishing the Women Excelling in Life and Leadership (WELL) employee resource group at Johnson reflects her dedication to fostering diversity and empowerment. Furthermore, Houston is a graduate of NASA Next and serves as a NASA 2040 champion, underscoring her forward-thinking approach and commitment to shaping NASA’s future.
Outside of work, Houston finds joy in being a dedicated “boy mom,” and in balancing her intense gym workouts, love for sports, and zest for travel with cherished moments spent with her family.
