Senior Techical Integration Manager

Jorge Piquero is a senior technical integration manager in the Launch Services Program (LSP) at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. His primary responsibilities include launch services development and risk management.

He serves as LSP’s risk manager and senior technical advisor for launch service task orders, strategy and policy, as well as initiating and developing relationships with emerging launch providers.

Experience

Piquero joined NASA in July 2007. He served as an integration engineer for seven years before moving into the integration branch chief position, and then served as deputy division chief for the fleet and systems management division.

During the Space Shuttle Program, Piquero worked for Lockheed Martin at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He was a thermal engineer for the Hubble Space Telescope and supported Hubble deployment from the space shuttle in 1990. He also worked on several Hubble servicing missions.

Education

Piquero earned a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland in College Park in May 1989.

Awards

He is the recipient of several awards, including the NASA Space Flight Awareness Award in March 2001, LSP Employee of the Year in 2012, and a NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal in September 2019.

Personal

Piquero’s hometown is College Park, Maryland. He resides in Merritt Island, Florida, with his wife, Casey. Their children, Victoria, and Dmitri are grown and living on their own. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, photography, reading, and wine tasting.
