Curtis Tucker: IV&V Admin Assistant and Technician
Currently I am in an administrative assistant/technician position.
My normal job can consist of anything from normal day-to-day preventative maintenance activities to employee training, facility out processing, record retention, maintaining facility keys, special build out projects etc.
I started my journey with IV&V in February 2016 in a day porter position.
I am a 2006 graduate of East Fairmont High School (EFHS) and since my start with IV&V, I have gained my HVAC TECH 1 CARD, apprentice Electrician card, and certifications in Acoustics for Design of commercial Buildings, Draining and Drying in exterior walls /composite materials. I am currently working on completing my HVAC & Electrical training and moving forward in my understanding of these trades.
Outside of work, I can be found doing a broad range of activities like slacklining, playing guitar, and kayaking. If it gets me out in nature, I consider that a win.
On a personal note, I want to talk about the impact the agency has had on my life. When I first applied for the position, I had no idea it would be a NASA site I would be traveling to. I had just followed up on an ad in the paper for a cleaning position and was quite surprised — to say the least — when the gentleman advised where to meet. “The building with the rocket in front of it,” as I recall.
I have never been more privileged than to have had the opportunities this agency has provided. Here at NASA, there is an atmosphere of excellence and excitement that permeates the air around you. It pushes you to be better every day, and you just want to succeed and never let anyone down. It’s just a wonderfully powerful feeling! The friendships and memories that I have created and cultured here at IV&V will last a lifetime and for that, I am just plain grateful. I hope I am afforded the luxury of continuing to grow with the agency and make more friendships and memories to carry me to infinity and beyond.
