Logo: µCub (MicroCub)

Title: µCub

Designer: The graphic designer for the cub logo was Amanda Spakes. The concept for the design came from the SIERRA logo with inputs from Model Lab employees Red Jensen, Derek Abramson, and Justin Hall.

Year it was designed: 2017

Explanation or story behind the logo: The µCub or “micro” cub is a 60%-scale model of a super cub. It received its name because of the size of the aircraft. When it was first being discussed to acquire the aircraft for its initial purpose, there were concerns that it was too big and storage may be an issue. One of the engineers on the project said “we can just call it the Micro Cub instead of a super cub and no one will have an issue” the name stuck. µCub was initially acquired to be a tow vehicle for the TOAD (Towed Orbital Asset Delivery) glider project. It is now being configured to be used as a risk reduction aircraft for UAS in the NAS. µCub is a 60%-scale, super cub powered by a turbo prop engine.
