EAP elements of the NASA Aeronautics Strategic Implementation Plan

The Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) is a living document that details NASA’s aeronautical research goals and objectives for the next 25 years and beyond. It also allows the agency to communicate with stakeholders and the broader research community to ensure NASA’s visions align with the needs of the aviation industry.

NASA’s aeronautics research is divided into six “strategic thrusts” that focus on key areas of development in the aviation community, with a strong emphasis on innovating new technologies to enable more efficient commercial airliners. Under Strategic Thrust 3: Ultra-Efficient Subsonic Transport, NASA’s research in electrified aircraft propulsion is accelerating these efforts through new energy-efficient systems and components, innovative aircraft designs, and advanced testing capabilities for maturing these technologies for flight.
