CIO Governance Boards

  • NASA Mission Support Council (MSC): The goal of the MSC is to provide effective and efficient institutional support to enable the Agency to successfully accomplish its missions.
  • NASA Information Technology Management Board (ITMB): The NASA ITMB consists of the Agency CIO, the Deputy and Associate CIOs, the Center CIOs, and the Mission Directorate CIOs and makes decisions regarding the Agency’s IT infrastructure strategy, operations, and budget.
  • NASA Baseline Performance Review Board: NASA’s Baseline Performance Review Board is the Agency’s forum for performance management of its programs/projects and mission support functions and is results oriented. This new iteration of the BPR continues to serve as NASA’s senior management monthly review of performance integrating vertical and horizontal Agency-wide communication of performance metrics, analysis and independent assessment.
  • NASA IT Strategic Board (ITSB): The ITSB serves as the Agency’s decision-making board for IT strategy and data governance. The ITSB provides counsel and makes recommendations for consideration by the board’s Decision Authority (DA).  To ensure IT strategy guides service delivery excellence within NASA, the NASA Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the ITSB DA on all governance decisions. The decisions include approval of the Configuration Items (CIs) listed in Section 10.2 of the charter.
  • NASA IT Operations Board (ITOB): The ITOB is the decision-making body for IT operations management including service delivery, change management, resource management, risk management, decisions escalated from affiliated bodies and topics requested at the ITOB DA’s discretion.
  • NASA Workplace and Collaboration Services Board: The WCSB serves as the Agency’s decision-making board for WCS IT operational services related to Identity, Certificate Management, Credential Management, Authentication & Authorization, Access Management.
  • NASA ICAM Working Group: Develop and recommend baseline or changes to WCS ICAM: strategy, investments, architectures, roadmaps, standards, and policies that will position the Agency to successfully meet requirements for OCIO and ICAM goals.
