NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 Complete Suit-Up
Suit leak checks are complete for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 as they prepare to leave the Astronaut Crew Quarters at the Neil A. Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building to head to Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida for launch.
Moments ago, the crew members played the traditional card game. The commander — NASA astronaut Jessica Meir — plays a card game and must lose before she and the team can leave Astronaut Crew Quarters, losing the game uses up all the commander’s bad luck and clears the way for a safe, successful mission.
A SpaceX rocket with the company’s Dragon spacecraft will carry Meir, NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway, Crew-12 pilot; ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Sophie Adenot, Crew-12 mission specialist; and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev, Crew-12 mission specialist, to the International Space Station for an eight month mission.
The flight is the 12th crew rotation with SpaceX to the orbiting laboratory as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program. Crew-12 will conduct scientific investigations and technology demonstrations to help prepare humans for future exploration missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as benefit people on Earth.
Launch remains on track for 5:15 a.m. EST.
