NASA 911, one of two retired Shuttle Carrier Aircraft that ferried NASA’s space shuttles across the country for three decades, is towed along a taxiway at Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, on its final journey to the nearby Joe Davies Heritage Airpark. The highly modified Boeing 747 jetliner, distinguished by the additional vertical fins at the end of its horizontal tail and the shuttle support pylons atop its fuselage, is now on public display 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
