Students research and investigate water consumption rates of astronauts based on a given scenario to determine if their water supply is enough to sustain them on the remainder of their journey.

Students will:

  • Construct scale models of the Earth–Moon and Earth–Mars systems with balloons to depict planetary sizes and distances from each other.
  • Calculate the water needs of astronauts on a deep space mission.
  • Calculate and graph water consumption rates, and make determinations based on trends within a graph.
