Dr. Xia Cai
Acting Program Manager / Chief Scientist, Space Weather Program Office, Science Directorate, NASA Langley Research Center
Xia is proud to serve the Space Weather Program Office at NASA LaRC starting
August 2025. During the last and half years, she had enjoyed working with participants

to use NASA Earth Observations to address the environmental concerns from
communities. Before that, she led the development of Level-3 cloud products of
NASA CALIPSO mission as a Senior Research Scientist. She joined NASA LaRC
from Virginia Teach in 2014 after she spent a few years conducting Space Weather
Research as a Research Scientist and completed her training as a NSF Geospace
Environment Modeling Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Xia obtained her Ph.D. degree
in Atmospheric and Space Science in 2007 from the University of Michigan.
During her spare time, Xia likes folk dance, yoga and camping.
