Wenying Su
Ground Networks, Calibration Labs, and Crowdsourcing Program Scientist, Climate Science Branch, Science Directorate, NASA Langley Research Center
About
Dr. Wenying Su is currently serving on detail at NASA Headquarters since fall 2024 as the Program Scientist for PREFIRE and crowdsourcing, and the Associate Program Scientist for CLARREO Pathfinder. She also supports the Earth Science Division in developing strategy and priorities for NASA’s chairmanship of the CEOS Strategic Implementation Team.
Dr. Su has represented NASA on the joint Committee on Earth Observation Satellites/Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CEOS/CGMS) Working Group on Climate (WGClimate) since 2016 and currently serves as the Working Group Chair. She was also a Coordinating Lead Author for the “Climate Trends” chapter of the Fifth National Climate Assessment.
Prior to joining NASA Headquarters, Dr. Su was a Senior Scientist at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, where she spent more than 20 years conducting research in atmospheric radiation. Her expertise includes the Earth’s radiation budget, climate variability, aerosol radiative forcing, and aerosol–cloud interactions.
Dr. Su chaired the Angular Distribution Model Working Group for the Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) project for over a decade and is a member of the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) science team.
She received the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal in 2016 and was part of the Terra mission team that received the Pecora Team Award in 2019.
