Deputy Element Manager, Human Factors and Behavioral Performance

Sheikh Ahsan’s career consists of 20 years of human spaceflight research and technology development experience on various NASA programs.

Ahsan’s aerospace career began with the Boeing Company in 2003, where he participated in system design and analysis tasks associated with the International Space Station and Space Shuttle programs. As part of the Constellation Program, he also worked with the Lockheed Martin Company, supporting system design integration projects for the Orion and Altair spacecrafts.  

Ahsan joined NASA in 2008 as a subsystem manager, leading various cutting-edge flight hardware and ground analog development projects in Johnson Space Center’s Engineering Directorate. He has contributed to directorate-level and center-level research and technology endeavors, assuming the role of principal investigator for several engineering evaluation studies. Ahsan transitioned to the Human Research Program in 2019, supporting technical management functions for the Human Factors and Behavioral Performance element. 

Ahsan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston and a master’s degree in systems engineering from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Additionally, he has completed a project management certificate program from the University of Houston-Downtown.
