John Smith helped in the formulation of the MESCAL mission concept, the later ACCP HSRL mission concepts, and now serves as deputy instrument scientist for HSRL Pathfinder and CALIGOLA. His expertise includes detector development and testing, lidar simulations and sensitivity analysis, interferometry, space radiation effects, and algorithm development.
