Dr. Daniel Kaufman received his B.Sc. in physics from the University of Maryland and Ph.D. in Marine Science from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Danny supports the Atmospheric Science Data Center at NASA Langley through Booz Allen Hamilton as lead data scientist for the TEMPO air quality mission. His research background spans biogeophysical data assimilation from ocean gliders, atmospheric carbon dioxide modeling, and watershed pollution management tool development. As a Center Champion for NASA’s Open Science initiative and a NASA Openscapes Mentor, Danny co-develops tools and materials for user-friendly access to NASA Earthdata. His current work focuses on cloud-based transformation tools and virtual datacube capabilities, making critical atmospheric science data more accessible to researchers and decision-makers addressing air quality and environmental challenges.
