NASA Glenn Director to Speak at Annual Ohio Aerospace Institute Forum

NASA’s Glenn Research Center Director Jim Free will address the Ohio Aerospace Institute’s Fourth Annual Industry Forum luncheon at 12:15 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Nov. 13.  The event takes place at the Marriott Key Center, 127 Public Square, Cleveland.

Free’s address will touch on the accomplishments of NASA Glenn over its 70-year history; the center’s emerging global opportunities and its ongoing innovation and future in Cleveland.  Appointed director in January 2013, Free is responsible for overseeing Glenn’s aeronautics and aerospace missions at Lewis Field in Cleveland and Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio.

A native of northeast Ohio, Free began his NASA career as a propulsion engineer at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., in 1990. He later became a system engineer on NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellites while there.  Since then, he has held a variety of engineering and leadership positions with the agency. He served as the Orion Test and Verification Manager at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston from 2008 to 2009; director of Space Flight Systems at Glenn in 2009 and chief of Glenn’s Orion Projects Office.

Media interested in attending the luncheon must contact Howard Thompson, Ohio Aerospace Institute Project Coordinator, by email at howardthompson@oai.org or by phone at 440-962-3237 to obtain required credentials.
