NASA Announces Dates for Plum Brook Deer Hunts

NASA’s Glenn Research Center and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Wildlife are teaming up again for the 2017-2018 Deer Hunt events on November 18, December 9, January 13, and February 3. Licensed Ohio hunters, who have been drawn by the ODNR, will have the opportunity to hunt at Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio.

“These deer hunts serve several purposes: promoting the health of the herd itself by avoiding overpopulation, insuring the health of those who work at Plum Brook Station and providing a source of recreation to hunters and often, a source of meat for the less fortunate,” said David Stringer, Plum Brook Station director.

To enter the lottery, each applicant must possess a current hunting license and be a U.S. citizen. Each selected candidate and partner will need to pass a federal background check at his or her own expense and complete the application by July 31.  Submissions cannot be faxed or emailed; only applications mailed in or completed online will be entered into the drawing. Names will be chosen at random in September. To check the status of your entry results, log on to your Ohio’s Wildlife Licensing System customer account and click “My Lottery Applications and Results.”

Applications can be found on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ website under controlled hunting events. Please be aware, Plum Brook’s test facilities take priority, and public access is subject to change at any time without advanced notice.
