NASA VISITOR CENTER CLOSES FOR NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING
HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. – StenniSphere, the visitor center at NASA’s Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, will be closed Friday, June 11 to honor the memory of former President Ronald Reagan by observing a National Day of Mourning proclaimed by President George W. Bush.
StenniSphere will resume normal operations beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 12. Stennis Space Center is America’s largest rocket test complex and test fires all the main
engines for the Space Shuttle. Free tours begin at the Launch Pad, located at the Hancock County Welcome Center, Exit 2, I-10. StenniSphere offers fun, educational, interactive exhibits, presentations and scientific demonstrations, the Space Odyssey gift shop and the RocKeTeria, a 1960s-style diner.
