Media Advisory: Interns at Wallops Showcase their “Right Stuff” with NASA Astronaut Aug. 4

Media are invited to join NASA astronaut Richard A. Mastracchio as he meets with student interns at the Wallops Flight Facility between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 4.

During the visit, Mastracchio will meet with 32 high school and college students during a poster session where the students showcase to the Wallops employees the work and research in which they have been involved this summer.

Media interested in attending the student poster session and talking with astronaut Mastracchio should register by contacting Keith Koehler at keith.a.koehler@nasa.gov by 8 a.m., Aug. 4.

Following the poster session, Mastracchio will spend the afternoon meeting with Orbital ATK and Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport employees to recognize their support to the International Space Station program.  Orbital ATK’s launches its Antares rocket from the Spaceport at Wallops carrying supplies, experiments and other materials to the space station.

Mastracchio joined NASA in 1990 and became an astronaut in 1996. He is a veteran of four spaceflights and was aboard the International Space Station when the Cygnus spacecraft arrived via the Antares rocket arrived during the Orbital ATK’s first cargo resupply mission in January 2014.
