NASA Glenn Faculty Fellowship Program
Research executed by participating faculty is aligned with one or multiple of NASA Glenn’s six Areas of Expertise which are Aircraft Propulsion; Communications Technology and Development; Space Propulsion and Cryogenic Fluids Management; Power, Energy Storage and Conversion; Materials and Structures for Extreme Environments; and Physical Sciences and Biomedical Technologies in Space. In addition, faculty members have the opportunity to work on one of several near-term focused research areas
NASA Glenn Faculty Fellowship Program (NGFFP) is a 10-week residential research program that is open to full-time science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) faculty members who are U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR), Permanent Resident Aliens (PRA), or Green Card Holders and who are currently teaching at accredited U.S. universities and colleges. An NGFFP award is for one summer residency (June to August) at Glenn Research Center (GRC). Proposed faculty engagements must be aligned with one or more of the Glenn Areas of Expertise, cross-cutting engineering disciplines, or focused research areas for meeting the Center’s commitments to advance NASA’s mission.
Scope
The benefits of participating in NGFFP are:
- Enhancing professional knowledge through engagement in cutting-edge research at GRC;
- Engaging with NASA subject matter experts in research and engineering;
- Enriching research and instruction at U.S. academic institutions by infusing NASA mission-related research and technology content into classroom teaching; and
- Contributing to in-house research, technology and engineering goals and objectives of GRC in support of NASA’s mission.
2025 NGFFP Additional Focused Areas are:
- Soft Matter, Materials and Structures for Extreme Environments
- GaN Inverter Prototype
- Spectral Time-Resolved Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (SPOD)
- Aerospace Thermochemistry
- Millimeter-Wave Components And Propagation, Atmospheric Entry Plasma Blackout
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Quantum Communications
- Hyperspectral Remote Sensing of Water Quality For Fresh Water Systems
Eligibility/Requirements
The opportunity is open to U.S. citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR), Permanent Resident Aliens (PRA), or Green Card Holders.
