More than 4,500 eighth grade public, private, and home school students got a first-hand look at Aerospace careers during the 2023 Junior Achievement (JA) Inspire Career Event March 15 and 16 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, Md.

At JA Inspire, students engage in hands-on activities and learn about different career opportunities as they interact with representatives, who share their roles, skill sets, and information on the academic foundation necessary for future employment.

NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility was out in force for the event with more than 40 employees and mission partners showcasing careers in fields including sounding rockets, balloons, small satellites, launch range operations, robotics, science, business, and education. Personnel from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Navy’s Surface Combat Systems Center at Wallops also supported the event.

Students in attendance hailed from Accomack County, Virginia, and Somerset, Worcester, Wicomico, Talbot, Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Dorchester counties in Maryland.
