Resources for Excepted/Furloughed Employees

To furloughed Kennedy Space Center employees and those continuing excepted work in support of NASA’s mission during the lapse in appropriations, please be aware of resources available during this time:

  • Financial Institutions: Many banks and credit unions are offering temporary relief such as deferred loan payments, low-interest or interest-free loans, and financial counseling. Please reach out to your financial institution directly to discuss your options.
  • Service Providers: Utilities, phone, and cable providers may also offer modified or deferred payment options — it’s worth contacting them if you need flexibility.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): The EAP is available for all employees and offers a self-help portal, financial and legal consultation, and support for childcare and eldercare. You can reach them at 321-289-6674.
  • Legal Office: If you have questions about outside work approval, please contact KSC-Ethics-Advisor@mail.nasa.gov.
  • Agency Resources: Visit NASA.gov/Shutdown for the latest agency-wide information, including unemployment resources, Thrift Savings Plan updates, and more.
  • Community Support: The MyFEDBenefits Shutdown Assistance Map (https://myfedbenefitshelp.com/shutdown-assistance-map/ ) lists local and national businesses offering help to furloughed federal employees. You can search by ZIP code to find what’s available near you.
