Understanding Our Universe Through Cosmic Signatures
iss028e016134 (July 12, 2011) --- A view of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer - 02 (AMS-02) mounted on the outside of the International Space Station. Researchers use this instrument to search for signatures of dark matter through charged cosmic particles emanated from stars and galaxies millions of light-years beyond our galaxy. Understanding where cosmic rays come from and how they move through space can improve safety precautions for future space missions.
