With its towline barely visible against the blue sky, the DROID-3 tow plane hauls a sub-scale sailplane through the air above Rogers Dry Lake during preliminary flight tests of the Towed Glider Air-Launch Concept. The flights of the two small unmanned aircraft helped validate systems and procedures and reduce risk en route to a full-scale demonstration of the innovative concept.
