Over 30 students from Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York participated in the development of CUNYSAT-1. The City University of New York CUNYSAT-1’s mission is to provide faculty and students hands-on flight development experience. The mission includes the
investigating of ionospheric disturbances. By measuring GPS signal changes, CUNY scientists can determine disturbances of the ionospheric charge densities. Students will be monitoring satellite spin and battery and solar panel efficiencies. Launched by NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative on the ELaNa II mission as an auxiliary payload aboard the NROL-39 Mission on December 6, 2013.
