Often the technologies we develop at NASA Langley prove useful in everyday life. Compounds we develop for advanced aircraft can be used to insulate wires in pacemakers. Grooving in runway pavement we developed to help prevent aircraft from hydroplaning can do the same for cars on American highways. Flexible materials we developed to endure high temperature conditions in space may one day help firefighters better survive dangerous wildfires. As we invent the technologies of the future, we’re constantly finding new ways to benefit humankind.
