Mission: Operation IceBridge 2012
This view of a glacier shear margin in Antarctica’s Pensacola Mountains was seen from NASA’s DC-8 flying science laboratory during a survey of the Ronne Ice Shelf grounding line on Nov. 1, 2012 as part of the 2012 Operation IceBridge mission over Antarctica. A shear margin is the point where fast-flowing glacier ice meets slow-moving ice or rock.November 1, 2012
