Journal Contributor Jim Failes writes:
I'm a huge fan of the ALSJ, and am certain it would be every bit as good without my miniscule contribution. But who can resist credit for even the tiniest role in the history of Apollo? A child of the space age, I was born within hours of the launch of Vanguard 3, in 1959. Never to realize my youthful dream of becoming an astronaut, I took to space instead through the eyepiece of my big brother's telescope. An amateur astronomer ever since, I never tire of looking at the moon, or of reliving the astounding days when people first set foot upon it.
The picture is one I took in 1983 at JSC. That's me reflected in a Gemini-era visor.
