Overview:

Take a tour of NASA’s premier ground-based microgravity research lab, where researchers from around the world study the effects of microgravity from Earth. NASA Glenn’s Zero Gravity Research Facility houses a 432-foot drop tower, built into the ground, which provides test articles a near-weightless environment for 5.18 seconds, and makes this the world’s largest drop tower of its kind. Testing here has been instrumental in the development of many experiments conducted on the space station and directly contributes to scientific research in combustion, fluid physics, biotechnology, and materials science.
