Jeffrey D. Smith Ph.D. Space Biology Project Manager at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., was honored by the invitation to deliver the 2015 Benson Memorial Lecture at his alma mater, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
The department of physics at Miami University invites the public, as well as the university community to attend this series of interdisciplinary talks that illustrate the relationship of physics and other fields of human endeavor. For decades these lectures have brought distinguished speakers, including three Nobel Laureates, to the Miami University campus.
Smith’s April 7, 2015 lecture, “Space Biophysics: Accomplishments, Trends, Challenges”, reviews the current state of NASA biophysics research accomplishments and identifies future trends and challenges for biophysics research on the International Space Station and beyond.
Smith received a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado and received Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Zoology from Miami University.
